Maple Creek Reach Restoration Party for Whatcom Water Week

September 18, 9am-Noon

Beaver pond at Maple Creek Reach by Alan Fritzberg

Please join Whatcom Land Trust (WLT) and American Rivers for scotch broom removal at WLT’s Maple Creek Reach property, located about 45 minutes east of Bellingham on Mount Baker Highway. Through the restoration efforts of WLT and many community members, this property has been transformed from a once overexposed and damaged area of salmon habitat, to a beautifully planted riparian zone for the benefit of many wildlife species. Adjacent to the site, American Rivers, Washington Dept. of Natural Resources, WLT, and other partners are working to develop a safe, sustainable river access site for the community to enjoy. All are invited to help steward the property and learn more about the proposed river access site at Maple Creek. All ages are welcome to join the restoration work party removing invasive Scotch broom and learning more about the property.

Please RSVP to jennifer@whatcomlandtrust.org. Parking and other details will be provided when you RSVP.
