SUMMARY:Blackberry Removal Work Party @ Catalyst Reserve
DESCRIPTION:Catalyst Reserve lies between the Landingstrip Creek and the South Fork of the Nooksack River—home to salmon\, elk\, birds\, and more. Join us and Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association to help protect this vital habitat by removing invasive blackberry\, which is overtaking native trees and shrubs. \nThis protected land used to be a poplar farm with hardly any riparian zone—the forested area around streams and rivers—and salmon passage was blocked by a culvert and large amounts of invasive reed canary grass. After years of restoration work\, the site is beginning to develop into a healthy habitat and riparian zone\, and we need your help to keep it headed in that direction! We can’t wait to see you out there! \nWhat to expect: Walking on uneven ground\, cutting blackberry. \nRSVP: Sign up here! \nHow to get there: Parking is at Acme Elementary School\, 5200 Turkington Rd\, Acme\, WA 98220. A 2-minute shuttle ride will bring you to the restoration site. The shuttle will be available throughout the event.
