Gifts of Land
For more than 35 years willing landowners have donated their land, placed conservation easements on their land, and donated property to Whatcom Land Trust for permanent community benefit. These generous gifts of land and property protect healthy shorelines, streams, forests, parks, agricultural and open spaces in our community forever.
As you consider options, our Landowner Resources page may be helpful. It helps articulate land conservation priorities as described in our Conservation Plan Update. Gifts of land and property may include raw land, properties with structures and infrastructure, dwellings and property you would like the Trust to resell to buy something ‘green’. Gifts may include discount sales or outright gifts. Gifts may be made through a will or bequest, or have a more formal structure like a retained life estate.
Here is a great of story of Neil and Ann Koblitz gift of land and a conservation easement in the Lake Whatcom Watershed.
