We at Whatcom Land Trust were saddened to learn that Dennis Conner, our long-time Volunteer Coordinator and dedicated Whatcom Land Trust friend, passed away on April 1st. Everyone who met Dennis was blessed by his passion and infectious charm. Dennis’ enthusiastic energy to tackle any job motivated many of us to drop what we were doing and pick up a hammer, a paint brush, or pull on gloves to pull weeds. Working with Dennis was fun! And just being with Dennis, working side by side with him, made you feel like you were doing the most important work ever.
Rand Jack, Whatcom Land Trust founder & long time Board member said it best; “His indomitable spirit, his generosity and kindness, his devotion to our community and the natural environment, his smile, his laughter, and the twinkle in his eyes lives on in the hearts of all of us fortunate enough to know him.”
We will miss you Dennis.
The Land Trust is planning a tribute newsletter to Dennis is our May edition.

Listen to the wonderful eulogy by Dennis’ son Matt Conner
Dennis’ ever-present smile, generous spirit, and love of life has enriched all our lives beyond measure. In recognition of his dedication to a life of public service and land conservation, as well as his strong stewardship ethic, we dedicate gifts to this memorial fund to benefit the Land Trust’s core mission and stewardship program. In particular, gifts will help fund stewardship activities at the Trust’s Skookum Creek property, where the Conner family serves as Volunteer Land Stewards. Thank you!
The family has asked if you would like to make a donation in memory of Dennis you can do this here:
