Field Friday Gate Installation, Planting Day, and Site Visit @ Black Slough

October 3 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join us for Field Friday at Black Slough! Help plant native plants to increase habitat and install a small gate to protect them. Black Slough is one of the only sources of cooling water that feeds into the South Fork of the Nooksack and is critical habitat for spawning salmon, migratory birds, small mammals, amphibians, and other native wildlife. This unique area boasts five acres of old-growth Sitka spruce, red cedar, and Douglas fir, all making up an incredible riparian habitat—the land and ecosystem next to the river. Spend the day learning from the Stewardship Team about Black Slough and giving back to this special place.

What to Expect: Digging holes for fencing and plantings, using tools to assemble fencing, bending and stooping, and walking on uneven ground.

How to Get There: We will meet at the Whatcom Land Trust Office at 8 am and carpool from there.

RSVP: Registration is REQUIRED for this event. Sign up here!

Additional details about the day will be shared the week before the Field Friday.
