Watch and learn about the collaboration protecting and restoring Lower Kenney Creek.
16 acres surrounding Lower Kenney Creek have been conserved forever. Now, partners have long-term access to restore and steward the Creek and support salmon recovery.
This year, a culvert blocking salmon passage was removed, and a new bridge was constructed to make way for the wider natural channel. Now, salmon can travel up the restored creek (with plenty of large, woody debris) to reach spawning grounds and create the next generation of salmon.
7 acres of grass field will be converted into a streamside riparian forest (that’s 5,000 native plants and trees!). Large woody debris placed in the new, wider channel will create natural stream habitat for salmon as they return up Kenney Creek to spawn.
