Gifts of securities and IRA distributions
Did you know that gifts of appreciated securities or mutual funds may allow you to augment your giving AND help you save on taxes?
It’s as simple as contacting us, and then you or your broker contacting our financial advisor, who will discuss the asset and determine the best option.
Contact Jennifer Stephens, Development Director, at (360) 650-9470 x 110 and jstephens@whatcomlandtrust.org.
You can also easily donate stock online through Overflow, and then let us know how you’d like your gift to be directed.

Your tax-deductible gift of stock will help to purchase and protect lands, waterways, birds, and nature that bring joy and meaning as well as ecological benefits.
Required Minimum Distributions and IRA gifts
How are you handling your required minimum distributions? If you are 70 ½ years old, you are subject to required minimum distribution (RMD) rules for your IRA. Gifting some or all of your RMD income using this qualified charitable distribution strategy may be a great way to both benefit the Whatcom Land Trust and reduce the taxes you pay.
Make a gift of your IRA stocks or in cash today and invest in stewarding the lands you love for future generations.
For more information on how to do this, Jennifer Stephens, Development Director, at (360) 650-9470 x 110 and jstephens@whatcomlandtrust.org.
Memorial or Honorary Gifts: a legacy of loving this land
When you give the gift of conservation stewardship or save land in someone’s name, you are empowering the Whatcom Land Trust to protect farms, forests, wetlands, shorelines, and fields forever. When you donate, you can name the honoree or memorial in the online form or in the memo section of your check. We will send an acknowledgment of your gift to the giftee’s family member if you share their contact information. Is there a better legacy than saving special places?
When you make a donation, click “I’d like to give in honor/memory.”
Whatcom Land Trust is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, EIN # 91-1246994. Over 90% of our day-to-day work is fueled by community gifts from people like you. THANK YOU!
