Help recover Chinook salmon populations – A key food source for endangered South Resident Orcas – by planting trees along California Creek! Celebrate Orca Recovery Day with Whatcom Land Trust, the Whatcom Conservation District, and Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association. Since 2018, when the orca Tahlequah brought attention to the plight of these whales by carrying her deceased calf for over 1,000 miles, volunteers have worked to restore salmon habitats. This year, the community will plant native trees and shrubs along California Creek to further these efforts.
What to expect: Walking on uneven ground, digging holes, making blue tubes
