Where We Work
Whatcom Land Trust focuses on properties located in the Cascades to Chuckanuts (C2C) corridor, the last relatively undeveloped corridor connecting the foothills of the Cascade Mountains to the shores of the Salish Sea. This roughly 350,000-acre corridor has been the focus of much of our work. We focus our efforts on the preservation of intact, functioning wildlife habitats; open and sensitive spaces such as the Lake Whatcom watershed; farms, forests and other working lands; public recreation sites and shorelines. Protection of these special places is accomplished through conservation easements, acquisitions and facilitation of land transfers. We employ creative approaches with an aim toward satisfaction for all involved parties. Because the C2C corridor connects several of Whatcom Land Trust’s highest priority areas, the Trust is always looking for new opportunities to help protect and conserve land in this region.
